On March 30, Punjab’s CM Bhagwant Mann took two big decisions related to education. He announced that no private schools in Punjab can hike fees for this semester from today. The policy for hiking fees will be discussed with parents, school principals, and schools owners in the upcoming days.
Private schools cannot force parents to buy books and schools uniforms from a particular shop. Mann said that parents can buy books from any bookshop in that area. Schools have to give addresses of all the bookshops in that area. Hence, schools have to make available uniforms and books to all the shops. He does not want anyone to make education a trade.
