On January 1, 2022, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter to chief secretaries of all states and Union Territories that states are advised to create makeshift hospitals to address the upsurge in COVID cases (ANI reported). It can be done with coordination with NGOs, corporations, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Which will help to set up temporary hospitals rapidly. Special teams must be formed to monitor all home isolation cases and ensure that all patients can be shifted to proper health facilities through dedicated ambulances. States are directed to make control rooms functional at the district or sub-district level and they have been asked to be prepared with enough quarantine facilities. States are also asked to revisit COVID dedicated health infrastructure to ensure operational readiness. India reported 1431 Omicron cases so far.https://scienceofpolitics.in/2022/01/01/makeshift-hospital-special-teams-counter-covid-upsurge/
