Punjab Police will form 2 armed battalions in 20 KM border area

The Punjab government has sent a proposal to the central government of India to form two armed battalions in the state. On October 11, the Ministry of Home Affairs had increased the area of jurisdiction for the Border Security Force in Punjab, Assam, and West Bengal. The area of jurisdiction was increased from 15 km to 50 km. Punjab police will form battalions to secure its border area. The police station will be upgraded in Amritsar, Fazilka, Firozpur, Gurdaspur, Jalalabad, Pathankot, and Tarantaran.
